Changing CAA within EASA

Hi all,

I’m currently on a Polish integrated ATPL course (no license yet for a while) and I’m training under a Polish EASA Class 1. I didn’t know this at the time but I’m required to get my issuing authority changed to IAA (Irish) before I get my CPL, but there isn’t much online about trying to change it. I’ve emailed IAA but as of right now have heard nada. If anyone’s been in this situation and managed to change it successfully please let me know how!

Many thanks!

My understanding is that your initial licence issue has to be in the same state as its medical. Once it's all been issued then the whole lot (medical and licence) can be changed to a different SOLI (subject to a whole bunch of verifications). From where you are now it seems that your choices are to complete the Polish licence and then change SOLI or start again with IAA initial medical. I can't find a route to change the initial medical to a new state prior to completing a licence - this doesn't mean that there isn't a method, just that I can't find one. My own experience with the IAA is of slow responses to queries. As always, happy to be corrected.

This is the bit about change of SOLI - ignore the top bit which is UK centric. Good luck and keep looking

My question is why would you want to do this?
The normal and logical route is you receive your licence and then you change CAA which is quite a simple process.

After receiving your licence, you contact the Polish CAA informing them you will be transferring your licence to Irish CAA. You give them permission to release your details. You do the exact same to your medical provider so they can release your medical files. Then you fill out some paperwork from the Irish CAA website, send them some Euros and then everything is processed.
