Is an EASA and UK medical both required

I have a UK-issued ATPL with a UK class 1 Medical and will soon be joining Ryanair (UK base).

Sometime after joining they will enable me to obtain an Irish licence and stipulate I must hold an EASA medical (before joining).

However my question is: must I keep my UK medical valid until such time as I hold a full Irish licence? Even though I'll have an EASA one.

Keeping both medicals current seems rather unnecessary and expensive.

Thanks

You need a medical to match the licence, so if you’re using a uk licence you need a uk medical. Likewise EASA.
