Initial Class One in foreign country

Hello all!

Having heard the recent news about the UK´s EASA membership coming to an end before the end of 2020, I´m wondering if anyone can help me.

I´ve got pretty severe myopia, but with an EASA medical would have no real issue getting one (initial). In the past, pre-EASA, the UK CAA had pretty strong requirements for eyesight and I doubt I´ll meet them should they be the same as years ago. Hence, I´m thinking of going about a rather round-about way of getting my medical done, but the process is confusing me. Could I simply get an EASA initial Class One in Spain (as I meet EASA requirements) and get EASA flying licenses there too? From what I can tell, I can only get a medical done in the state in which my medical records are held, apparently... so that´s me narrowed down to UK only...

Cheers,
Oliver Mitchell.

Medical records relates to your aeromedical file AFAIK, not your GP's notes or stuff like that. If you do an initial medical in Spain, that's where your aeromedical file will be held initially, if you ever wish to move this to another state, it requires some paperwork. I have never done this myself so others will be able to explain the process much better than I can.
