Class 1 medical ..past anxiety ?

Hi guys got my initial class 1 medical next week and i have a little worry that's looming over me ..so basically i lost my job a few years ago and had a spike of anxiety i couldn't sleep and the doctors gave me some very mild anti anxiety tablets they where called mirtazapine ..anyways i took 2 of the tablets out of a course of 28 and felt worse so didn't take anymore , i applied for a few jobs and got back on my feet and have been fine ever since ..will this affect my chances of getting my medical on the day ..it seems ridiculous that it would but i understand in a way why it would ..any advice I'd appreciate ,cheers

I’ve had my class 1 today and they have acknowledged they are happy with the issues I have had and acknowledge that’s in the past but said I do need to be seen by a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, they don’t have one on site and they use one particular one at Gatwick. The DR in question is based on Brighton and only works Thursdays so I have to wait another month before I can see him (earliest apt available) after that, he then submits a report and it’s down to the CAA. Prepare for another £96 for the letter and I’ve received an email today which states it’ll be £280 for the consultation...JESUS THEY KNOW HOW TO CHARGE!! I’ve got no idea what the hell the CAA will say so I’m just say waiting. Good luck! Hopefully you’ll be fine and won’t need to see a psychiatrist!!

I have exactly the same issue! Was off work last year and prescribed Sertraline as I was under severe stress at work (teaching and working until 2.00am most days plus caring for a relative). Only took it for a month or so as I felt it just wasn't for me. I'm taking my ATPL and need my class 1 medical. AME says I need to obtain psych report (even though my anxiety was over a year ago). I have to go in and discuss it with him but apparently I need to see a psychiatrist before he can issue it. Other than that I've been fine since.

Good luck!

Phyc report

Ive just got back from my Physologist visit and it was most depressing. He’s taken all my medical notes from me and advised it looks like a “complex past” He didn’t give me much to go on but there’s a possibility the CAA May declare me unfit for all classes for a few years then reassess or they’ll say never fly. Mine was 2 years ago and there haven’t been any issues since but the CAA don’t appear to look at that! I strongly suggest your head off with your medical records if possible!

Just an update for you all
So the general consensus is if you have any anxiety related issues you will be referred by the AME and you will need to go and see a consultant psychiatrist ,I've had to do this and luckily they've told me I'm not insane

For anyone in the same situation as i was, have patients ,don't give up and stay determined.
ciao
