Polio in Syria. An almost unheard of treatment . . .
well, at least to me.
These poor souls. Children mostly, starting to get this now of all times. However, a pal, more or less a scientist, though in an unrelated field, contracted polio when he was serving in the RAF. He happened to have a doctor that knew what to do.
They totally immobilized him, not allowing him to make the most minute movements under his own power. The argument was that the problems doesn't affect muscles that are not being used. How one gets over breathing, I don't know. This was decades ago.
I wonder if it's good science. I also wonder if it's generally known, and if not, if information like this could be got to Syria.
