Doctors Visit about Depression
Hi everyone
About 5 months ago I visited my doctor because I thought I was suffering from depression. I was never formally diagnosed and nothing came of the visit. I'm feeling much better now and don't have the issues anymore.
I'm getting back into my PPL training and I want to get my Class 2 medical sorted (CAA). I am unsure as to whether I have to mention this to the AME or disclose it on the initial form. If I have to mention this will it result in my medical being denied?
Thanks,
Josh

You need to discuss this with the AME. He may ask your GP for his thoughts.
If the AME is unsure, you will be referred to a specialist.
Medication?

I suffered from depression when my father died and my GP prescribed a mild sedative to help me to sleep. I discussed it with my AME and he was happy for me to retain my Class 1 certificate so long as I did not take medication whilst working.
Hi Josh, "depression" covers a wide spectrum from mild, to moderate, to severe.
On the face of it, it doesn't sound like your chat with the AME will cause too many problems.
Go in and tell the truth.
