Foreign verification of EASA licence & medical

Hi all

Planning an hours building trip to the US this year. I've received my verification of EASA licence inclusive of Class 2 (Class 1 expired last year).

Neither the wording in the verification letter nor the FAA website make it clear whether I need to visit an FAA AME before I can fly in the US, or whether by validating my foreign medical licence I'm automatically granted medical licence privileges in the US.

Please can somebody clear up whether I need to schedule an AME appointment as well as an appointment with the FSDO for FAA airmen licence issue?

Apologies if I'm asking a question that's already been answered - I've tried the search function and done a google search, but couldn't come up with a conclusive answer.

Thanks
