Rotator cuff surgery-reduced mobility

I tore a tendon in my shoulder in may which was successfully repaired by surgery, quite a common procedure. I was in a surgical sling for 6 weeks before rehab started full on.
I have regained full movement and strength in all areas below the horizon but as I raise my arm above my head I do have a bit of a stiff shoulder which the physios are working on. The surgeon says this effects a few people and will resolve itself.
I have been off work for 3 months and expect to do my medical with my AME at the end of sep.
Has anyone any experience as to how much flexibility they require to resume full ATPL duties??
The CAA medical advice is a bit vague. The surgeon was surprised I was not back at work but admitted he has never dealt with the CAA.
Cheers

IF I WERE YOU I WOULD FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR and have things checked out. Remember, many things an ATP in a modern airliner will have to do involves over the head movement.

ITS YOUR CAREER so find another doctor and yes it will be expensive.

Thanks very much for the info, more or less what I expected. I have the strength but reduced mobility in vertical movements, just one of those things. Will see what he says in a few weeks.
Kind regards

I believe the quickest way is to get a sim session with a CAA person in the back either medic or TRE.

They then do a function test during emergencys etc. If you get all that done no problems report written and medical appears pretty quick.

I know 2 people who have been through this. The first one was the victim for a TRE initial test and the CAA bloke suggested it when he said there he had no problem with him flying. Second one paid for the caa to turn up.

If you wait for the paper method it takes weeks of reports going backwards and forwards.

As MAd Jock said, a practical evaluation is all that is needed.
