Nose Bleeds + x 2 Cautery

Hello all,

Does anyone know if having your nose cauterized (twice) can effect pilot application to the AAC/RAF/FAA?

I've been almost 5 years clear of a nose bleed, but have read that indivduals have come into trouble with nasal cautery.

It's quite a common procedure Alister.

Sorry, not sure of the regs, I'm sure someones written one somewhere.

5 years seems a long time, have you flown at altitude since ?

The cause of the bleeds must not be a contra-indication. The procedure is not a problem.

I've had 8+ hours in Grobs and other light aircraft with an alt up to 9,000ft and no bleeds + commercial flights.

The reasons for the bleeds were:
1. A large vein was the suspicion for the bleeds.
2. The 2nd time was due to the area looking 'raw'.

No bleeds since.

Regards,
A
