orbis eye hospital
Just watched a programme on quest about a dc10 flying eye hospital.
Remarkable people doing a remarkable job and changing many lives for those less fortunate.
Well done peeps, if only there were more things like this in place to help even more people.
There is still some good left out there, just thought id share it.

Smile Train is another one. This is routine surgery in the UK and other developed countries but can make a world of difference in less developed ones. From the website:
Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of children who are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly. Aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job. And face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation, pain and heartache.
It is things as simple as this which make me realise just how very blessed we are in this country. We may moan about the weather etc but when you compare our situation with that of others in less well off places we are rich indeed.
