Just check your thyroid ( this year 2012!) instead of suffering from irrational anxiety. I guess a thyroid might be a source. Then you shall undergo the operation, or you shall be on a “long haul” medication. In the past I had suffered from irrational anxiety due to a thyroid, but not anymore and on a request of my mum ( av. doctor ) had resigned,( That base sounded as safe one, but in reality is not that safe there at all any further I had followed the opinions of the people living there hard to say whether they are unemployed or not…and from my own experience), and I feel good with the helicopters to which I am accustomed to. If it’s a thyroid, give yourself a small break then, like going to Africa even to my aunt she specialized in thyroid disorders in order to relax. If you shall like Africa then stay in Africa, there are still many great outgoing people despite of the political turndowns. The warm climate is good for a thyroid. . What else can it be? I do not know.

Interesting quote from the above

"....a University of Southern California study which revealed that 90% of pilots suffer from fear of heights.."

My wife does CBT and it has transformed some peoples lives. Believe it or not, many are public speakers, lecturers and mature students getting ready for major exams. Find yourself a decent CBT therapist and get a new life
