Question FAA and CASA 1st class medicals

What's the difference between an Aussie 1st class and a FAA 1st class...are they transferable one country to the next?

Cool

Snapper head, good question. I've never seen a foreign 1st class medical in the USA but I doubt it. Your question should probably be posed to the FAA. I'm sure that with a quick search, you could find their website and ask the question. One bit of advice though, if you have to get an FAA medical, find out who the local pros give all of their repeat business to and that should be your Dr. I've had friends and relatives who've had no previous problem with approval, change doctors because they were out of town or just relocated to a new domicile, lose their medical through the very subjective process. Once you get disapproved, it's an uphill battle from there. Good luck.

Unhappy

From the little I know the Australian medical is an ICAO medial, the FAA is not.

I don’t think you can validate an Australian medical to gain privileges above a private certificate. This is the link to U.S. Pilot Certificates Issued on the Basis of Foreign Pilot Certificates Per FAR 61.75

Many doctors in Australia can do both FAA and CASA medical, sus one of them out and get both done at the same time. This is the link to FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION OFFICE OF AVIATION MEDICINE CIVIL AEROMEDICAL INSTITUTE AVIATION MEDICAL EXAMINER SEARCH
