Being 'colour deficient' I cannot get a class 1 medical but what about becoming an instructor. JAR-FCL states that you need a class 1 medical for your CPL so is there a restricted Class 1 medical which allows you to instruct? And if not, why not goddammit?

Those already instructing on a BCPL with a class 2 are now given a restricted class 1, I am not sure if they will give a restricted class 1 and CPL to new applicants though.

That's what I'd heard but you're either safe to fly or not irrespective of when you applied for your licence. If there's two people with the same colour perception just because one of them got their licence a few years ago it doesn't mean that they are any more or less safe.
