Question JAR Class 1 renewal

Just wondering if anyone has had the new 'extensive' eyesight test on their class 1 renewal? This requires either the AME to do it himself or he sends you to I believe an approved optician. Please note I am talking about a renewal, not an initial issue. Surely someone has had one of these recently? I believe it came in at the end of July. I am curious as to what this new test entails? Is there anything further tested than under the old eye chart test? Thanks.

For over 40s 1st renewal on extended not due 'till 1/7/01, 2004 for under 40s. So like most AMEs I have still not done one.

Did my JAR class one renewal about three weeks ago, eyesight test was very straightforward, cover one eye and read the bottom line, cover the other eye and do the same! No problems, I shouldn't worry about it, just go and do the tests!

Best of luck!

Would I be correct in thinking that an extensive eyesight test on renewal was only carried out every five years?
