For renewal you will part with a substantial amount of cash. 95 pounds for the JAR medical renewal. 30 pounds for recording a resting ECG. 27 quid for the CAA to look at the ECG readout. 50 pounds for an Auidogram and and extended ENT exam. 30 pounds for the optometry tests. There are a couple of things in there as well but I dont have the receipt in front of me at the moment. Right thats the painful bit over with.
It cost me 212 quid for a JAA renewal, which I did last Friday (before the Ash Bash fortunately). There is a test for haemaglobin, a lung capacity test, blood pressure, eyesight tests (colour blindness, stereo vision and how blind are you?).
There is a lot more paperwork than for the old CAA medical and the new certificate is a horrid bit of blue paper that you can practice origami with so that it fits in your CAA licence.
