Post good habits to develop for a future airline career?

What are some good habits to develop in terms of health for a future airline career? Am looking for specific advice rather than broad generalizations. Thanks.. . . . [ 15 March 2002, 18:35: Message edited by: shon7 ]

Don't smoke.. .Don't drink to excess all the time. Give your liver at least 2-3 alcohol free days a week.. .Monitor weight, eat sensibly.. .Manage stress properly and remember to enjoy life.. .Get regular exercise.. .Look after your vision and hearing.

Protect your hearing. Wear earplugs when doing walkarounds. Don't fly in noisy SEP a/c as a PPL without wearing ear protection. Don't think you are invincible in this area. I used to walk around jet engines often when I was young thinking it wouldn't hurt me. Now I am paying the price with partial hearing losss and tinnitus (constant ringing). Other friends who were careless when younger suffer from this as well.

Chickenhawk,. .It's a bit of an injoke with Capt Airclues and me. I guess you had to be at CityExpress, Circular Quay, Sydney to really appreciate the joke. . .Think BA, think euphamisms.

If you can develop the habits of sleeping when you're wide awake, staying awake when you're dead on your feet and sitting quite comfortably in a chair for 10 hours at a time, you'll go a long way.
Reading back a clearance with a mouthful of sandwich is an essential skill. Double points if you can change frequency at the same time.
Finally, develop the ability to create a good working relationship with anyone and everyone.
