Post Problem with Class 1 eyesight...

Hi! I really hope somebody can give me some advice here.

I was lucky enough to be selected for an ATPL cadet training program last week. Everything was tickety-boo until my Class One. Breezed through all tests until the eyesight.

Although the optician informed me that my basic vision in both eyes was well within requirements, he said that my right eye was so strong that it causes a slight deflection which, although small, is outside the CAA limits. Apparently, the problem may cause me to very briefly 'see double', although this is something I've never experienced at all. On the plus side, he has booked an appointment for me at another specialist who can, if other aspects of my sight are deemed to compensate the deflection, waive the requirement.

Obviously with that 'dream' airline job so close to reach, I'm anxious to know if it is common for certain requirements to be waived. I also wonder if there is anything that can be done to counter such a difficulty?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
