Post Renewing Class 1 Medical

I'd like to apologise if this has already been brought up before............

Has anyone ever failed their Class 1 Medical renewal after passing it initially and were they then given a Class 2.

If this has happened I believe it has left a devastating effect on the pilot who can no longer fly commercial.

Can anyone please advise of any experiences.

Many Thanks
DWHLO

To cut a long story short; does being told you can't have a class 1 because your eyesight is out of limits, only to find out out they mistook a 0 for a 6, count?!!!!!
That was after 4 independant eye exams before finally going to the CAA themselves.
...then I got the class 1.
I already had a NZ class 1.
