Post ANR Headsets. Are they safe for your ears

We are considering getting some ANR headset for our pilots operating Kingairs.
So far I have found them comfortable and certainly capable of removing the noise, but even with that overlaying sound which cancels out the lower frequencies is there a chance of damage to the ears with any sound energy that is not detected.
