Question Australian DAME ..... i have a question

Would like to know what the class 1 med cert blood and urine tests are looking for. ie are they looking for normal bodily functions and/or for drugs and/or alcohol type substances?

Do all DAME's do the same tests?

I believe all DAMEs are looking for the same stuff, as CASA sets the medical standards. If you want to read stuff in detail, following are some useful links:

http://www.casa.gov.au/manuals/htm/dame/dame.htm

If I remember correctly, I don't think urine was sent to a path lab, so presumably it was tested for easy-to-check things like diabetes by the DAME. The blood was sent out, and Cholesterol, Triglyceride, Liver Function Test and Full Blood Count were done. I may have forgotten something though.
Basically I believe they are looking for normal bodily functions.

However, if you're worried about being tested for drugs and excessive alcohol consumption, I would be a bit worried about flying with you...

Bird Strike is correct, the urine tests for diabetes.
