Conversion of GCAA medical to EU Ops?

Hi all,

I've been cabin crew for a good few years now and avoid hospitals, doctors etc as much as poss.... In nov 2008 I had a very extensive medical for flying in the UAE and got a medical certificate through till 2013... Times have changed, contracts ended etc, now I have a temp flying job in Europe... and they want me to do a full medical again to comply with Eu ops, saying my GCAA cert is invalid... Is there anyway this can be converted without doing another medical - also I've been out of work for 4 months and can't really afford to have it done again ( 500 euro last time at my own expense), after just a year and a bit...

Many Thanks
