Class 2 Medical - How Much?

Anyone any idea how much I should be paying for an initial Class 2 Medical? I know the AME's set the fee, I was just wondering what the "going rate" was?

Usually between £100 and £150ish. An initial will be more than a renewal.

I paid £141 for initial Class 2 plus £20 for an eye test. The whole lot can be done in a day.

I paid £148 for a revalidation Class II last Saturday; a bit steep I think (there was a fee for doing the ECG and another for reading it!)

Its better when you know the Doctor Personally. Rate seems to drop drop away, and makes you wonder just how much it perhaps should be

I have been advised by the flight school in Florida that I only need a Class 3 Medical to get a PPL, will this be enough to fly back here in the UK?

That will be an FAA medical (no such thing as a JAA class 3) and is fine for any PPL training you'll do in the USA. It is however no use for flying on a JAA license back here in blighty, you'll need a JAA medical.
