Class 1 expiry confusion - expiry for flight instruction

Hi,

Sorry if this has been done, have serached.

The expiry date on my medical is 25th Apr '07. However I only had a medical
done 6 months ago (19 Oct ' 06).

I am 42. I was under the impression that the validity period for class 1 for
non AOC work was now 1 year, not 6 months.

Is my medical still valid for Flight Instruction even though the expiry date
is 25 Apr '07.

IE. Is the only reason the expiry date is given as 25 Apr '07 because I could
use it for AOC work and therefore the AME has specified it as 25 Apr '07
however it still has an extended validity for non AOC work just as a class 1
has an automatic extended validity as a class 2 license even though the
class 2 expiry isn't specified?

Thanks for your help,

Carl

I think, Carl, that the 1 year rule only applies to medicals issued post 01 December 2006, when the new ruling came into force, so your present medical will expire on 25 April 2007. Your next medical will be valid for 12 months, however, you need to make sure your AME is also aware of the new ruling and that he/she writes the correct date on the certificate.
