Why do they call it TB?

Why do they call it TB?

I've often wondered this...I mean if it's TB, then the T must stand for Tu and the B for burculosis

Why didn't they call it TC? That seems like a better way to split the word: a Culosis ot the Tuber, not a Berculosis of the Tu
