Class 1 Medical Question

Hi all,

Quick question - I'm planning on making a break into commercial aviation starting by going to the states this winter. Before I lash out on the works I'm going to get my Class 1. Nearly 7 years ago when I last tried to learn to fly before running out of money I got my Class 2 and got a total of 22 hours.

My question is simple - in the past 7 years I seem to have got fat and found cigerettes (although I'm trying to quit!) and become unfit - previously I was fit enough to pass the OASC fitness test but failed the medical due to a past history of asthma - which I am well and truly over.

How stringent is the Class 1, do you get black marks for being slightly porky and what is "reasonably fit" in their eyes.

Thanks!

They might take a dim view if your BMI is over about 35 and you have to have a lung capacity test - if you pass those (which seem to be your main concern) then you should be OK.

Try the Medical forum?

Cheers
