Cost of ECG etc
I am a student PPL.
My class 2 medical certificate was issued then provisionally suspended due to right bundle branch block,until I have an excercise ECG,24 hour Holter ECG,Echocardiagram and clinical report on above.
Told not to be alarmed or worry as it will most probably be OK.
I've just seen my GP who has given me the name of a local cardiologist who I am now contacting.
My GP told me expected cost could be £400 which rather shocked me!
Are there any ball park figures on charges?
Will I have to have this every year?

ECG approx. £60, 24 hr holter approx. £120-160. Shop around or ask your GP to, some places take the piss. Don't know about every year, it depends what shows up. Maybe one-off or every year until they're happy, the CAA will tell you.
If it gets too pricey and you don't intend to go commercial, look at the NPPL as the medical requirements are less onerous.

I was doing the NPPL and had a car type medical from a locum,then saw my GP to get an HGV type which would allow me to fly 4 on board in the UK.
Although I am friendly with him,he was not happy to sign me off without an HGV medical,I don't know why as I race cars!
Anyway upshot was he said why not get the full PPL,I've got enough hours so I went down that route.
Which is why I am here now.
My Class 2 medical was £140 and this lot will make it all very expensive ,but I've got this far and would really like the JAR/PPL so will see what the specialist medico quotes me.
I understand from one of my airline pals that this rolling road stuff is a one off,I'm 62 and interested in the result anyway.

The CAA publish their own scale of charges for examinations done at the Belgrano. It's on http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/49/SRG_Med...s_Jan-2006.pdf
Most AMEs charge similar amounts, but it may pay to shop around, especially for Class 2 stuff.
