Dreams Shattered...
Hi all,
Well, I have just came back from the opticaians to get a extended eye examination and, one of the worst thing to happen to an aspring pilot, colour deficaiancy!
Now the question to be ask is that is there a chance of me failing the Ishihara test and passing the other lantern test?
Please Help, i dunno what i would do now the commercail pilot dream is shattered.
I am still going ahead with my ppl, all be it not the night rating.
Anyway, in the mean time, ill keep searching on google for some understandable info.
Thank You
Jay

Good luck, fella - I know what it's like to have your dreams shattered after I was told at the age of 15 I could never fly for the RAF on account of my height (too tall). Went on to get a Flying Scholarship anyway and have been flying commercially for 6 years

Above all, don't give up!!
I too had my dreams shattered a couple of years ago when they screwed me for a bureaucratic issue (a completely wrong 'specialist' report). I couldn't even get a Class 2.
Today, after many tears and years of fighting I hold unrestricted Class 1 medicals from three different aviation authorities, including a JAA Class 1!
It can be done if you are ready to sit it out. Be aware though it may take some time. If all fails in Europe then try and go somewhere else to live and work. Australia for example doesn't take those eye issues that seriously; I've even heard of a one-eyed 737 captain over there. His licence is restricted to Aussie airspace only but thar country is big enough...
Best of luck!

well Jamie..at least you found out before you spent £110k+ on training. The medical issue can be harrowing beyond words.... as many of us find out.
Having carefully re-read your posting (and with respect) are you sure you're not dyslexic as well? Anyway good luck for the future, your bridges may not be burned yet! bm
