Astigmatism?
I just found that i am very slightly short sighted but i do have 2.0 for the right and 2.5 of left of astigmatism...
I have heard that the requirement for a initial JAR class 1 is 2.0. will that make me a marginal case or I wont be able to make it?
I am also thinking of applying for a cadet program in Hong Kong. Anyone knows if there are any requirements according to astigmatism for Hong Kong pilots? What about FAA? thanks..

I don't know about values exceeding -2.0, but for what its worth i have had astigmatism of -2.0 for years, and i was able to get both JAA and FAA first class medicals.
might want to check the JAR-FCL, i know eye-sight requirements have been changing recently.

The CAA will give a 0.5 dioptre tolerance on the eye-sight limits. It is worth noting that my Atigmatism was measured at -3.00 in each eye and I was issued a "Class 1 medical with deviation" at my initial at Gatwick. Once I obtained my CPL, the deviation was lifted and I now have an unrestricted Class 1 medical. You'll find that if you keep pushing, you'll eventually get it, even if your outside the limits.
