Can you still get your Comm Medical after a having a Nephrectomy ? (Kidney removed)

Hi

I am currently a private pilot, saving hard to get the cash together for my comm license.

At the beginning of the year i was involved in a climbing accident and had to have a kidney removed.

I am now 100% fine, and am capable of doing everything i could previously, with the exception of prehaps continous drinking binges.

Does anyone know if this operation will restrict me from getting a full comm medical ?

Regards
Giles

In Australia it wouldn't be a problem assuming there's no continuing medical problem (ie medication). Kerry Packer's helicopter pilot donated a kidney to KP and he kept his medical.

As stated above, they are probably going to be more interested if you're on any medication that isn't allowed for flying.

Cheers Guys.

I'm on absolutely no medication at all.

After getting over the incident, and happy to be alive, my immediate major freak was wondering if i could actually follow my dream of becoming a comm pilot.

I will obviously go and speak to a doctor now, just wanted to know some idea before i headed on in.

Regards
