Malaysia:got My Class-2...but!!!!but!!

i just got my class 2......... in malaysia...

i wanted to do a class one....

but the doctor say in malaysia.. usually they dun issue class 1... if u are not going to do ATPL courses....

so i got myself a class 2...

i asked the doctor bout Class 1 whether i meet the requirement for eyesight.....

the requirement is

6/60 uncorrected, correction not exceeding +/- 3D .

i'm -4D ..

so i asked him.. do i qualify....

he said i'm the borderline case....... i need to submit a full-opthamology report on my eye and let them consider my case....

is anyone sharing the same condition with me?

anyone from malaysia who exceeds the correction limit.. but still hold a class-1???

my ECG is good, my hearing is good.. i'm not colour blind.... basiclly i'm healthy.. but i'm overweight.. that's all....

so.... i hope anyone from malaysia who holds a class-1 but has exceeded correction limit..... share your experience please...

if not.. i'm doing an australian class-1.. and pursue a career in AUS

hmm

well i know i can pass

FAA
JAR(CAA)
CASA(Australia)

Class 1 medical..

i'm well inside their limits...

and since my health is generally good, good ECG, good hearing,.... i believe i can get through those comfortably.

i'm myopic

L: -4d 1.75D AStig
R: -4d 1.75D Astig

JAR(CAA) +/- 5D maximum correction(i'm inside)
FAA/CASA no correction limit, corrected vision must be 6/6 (i'm inside too)

but not so for A Malaysian Class 1

Malaysian Class1:

uncorrected vision not to be worst than 6/60 with correction not exceeding +/- 3 D .

so... according to the AME, i would have a liltle difficulty in obtaining a class 1 medical in Malaysia.

I need to do a full-opthalnology check-up and submit the report to AME for my case to be considered according to my AME.

Thus i would like to ask anyone who is a Professional Pilot in Malaysia who holds a Class 1 whilst exceeding the Correction Limit to share their experiences here.

Should i Pursue a Flying Career Overseas? i.e. Australia, Europe?

Wow - that's fairy strict eyesight standards if it's true.

And I though the CAA Class 1 was the most stringent of them all.

Find out if Malaysia have an agreement to accept the CAA Class 1 - if they do, you can transfer it.

Maybe some Europeans who fly with Malaysian can comment on it as I'm out of my depth on the question now.

Not easy, unless you already have a residency...

UPDATE UPDATE!!!

weird though,

i've received contradicting answers from a Doctor and a Pilot in MFA(Malacca Flying Academy)

it seems that there's a pilot in MFA flying with -6d holding a Class-1 Certificate........

hmmm.. but my doctor says otherwise...

funny...

according to the pilot.... he did his medical with another doc.. and according to His doctor.. it is ok as long as corrected vision reaches 6/6 ... !!

I'm REALLY BLUR!!!???

i mena.. two different answers from two different doctors?

and a living proof is a Pilot with -6D holding a Class-1 ??

hmmm..

ANYONE CAN CLARIFY THIS??

the DCA's website isn't very helpful

I've no idea about Malaysian medical standards, but is there any possibility that the renewal standards are different from the initial standards?

Expeditious. You are asking a number of questions here regarding your flying, both in terms of medical requirements and training. You may receive more interest in the Wannabe Forums. I will leave your post here for a while, should you not receive sufficient response, I will move it to Wannabe Forum.
Thank you
H
