Spinocellular Carcinoma

One and a half years ago, I cut a sign in my face while shaving. 24 hours later, it was as large. After 48 hours it was for times bigger, then 8, 16... and I ended up in surgery within less then a week.

According to the doctors, the lesion – a “spinocellular carcinoma” was extracted “margin free” and nothing else had to be done.

I’m Caucasian, 46 and have accumulated 13,000 flying hours in a flight deck so far, 12,500 on jets and at least the last 4,000 in one of those large bloody machines that may end up at FL430.

I heard there might be a conection between our activitie and this specific kind of lesion. I was told that airmen had a much larger percentage of spinocellular carcinoma than non-airman of the same racial and social extracts.

Does anybody has any information on these specifics?

Tks.

There has been quite a lot in the past about radiation. Try searching under a variety of headings–radiation etc.

An AME at LGW (in an hotel just north of) was on an investigative committee on this subject.
