cardiologists

My class one medical has been suspended due to a problem with my ECG. I need to see a CAA approved cardiologist and have down loaded the list on the CAA web site. Has anyone seen any of these and can make any comments???
I'm in the south east so could go to any in the London area.
Thanks
Jarvy

I suggest that you go and see one of the CAA Cardiologists at The Belgrano. I found them to be very helpful.

Scan some of the previous posts.

Could it be that your problem could be calmed by not taking certain stimulants, like coffee etc.?

Jarvy,
If it would help to talk to a fellow pilot who has been through the cardiological hoop-drop me a private email and I will give you a call.

Jarvy,

I would definitely recommend you to go to the CAA at Gatwick for your cardiological assessment.

I found both the consultant and senior aeromedical officer,I saw there, very humane and highly professional. They really are on your side, and, try their best to get your medical back.

You can pm if you want to talk about it.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the help and support will contact you over the weekend. Still need to get an echocardiogram and because of my age a myocardial perfusion scan else where as the CAA can't do these. I am trying to find the costs involved but like aviation medical treatment does seem like a bottomless pit!!!
Once again many thanks to all

I agree on the costs, I had the echocardiogram a few weeks ago at a BUPA hospital and it was £350.00 for a session that was
only 20 minutes. The consultant £160.00 for 40 minutes...

Yep, been through the mill with this one. Been monitored over several years exercise ECGs 24hr holters echos etc. The overall conclusion is that it is my norm, but nevertheless gave me many sleepless nights. Had an OML applied to my class one and three years later, I think they got bored looking at nothing specific, told me not to bother coming back- restriction lifted.

I have seen several cardiologists, at Gatwick and Brighton but the most pragmatic was at DR Shapiro at Cambridge.

Contact me for more info if required.
