Price of renewal/revalidation of class 1
Hi
Just a quick question:
I have to renew/revalidate my class 1, and the doctor said it would be £140. Looks a bit expensive... Is that the price set by the CAA or is it the price set by the doctor himself, or a bit of both?
Cheers for your replies,
FNav
PS: I found the scheme of charges for the initial class 1 on the CAA website, but nothing about renewals/revalidations. Would it be £65 (medical examination) + £36 (administration fee) + the remaining bit at the doctor's discretion?

Appears to be about the going rate. Bit more (about £50) if an ECG is required.
AMEs can set their own prices, nothing goes to the CAA at all. However, I think there is a bit of peer pressure going on between them not to undercut the going rates. You'll find they all charge pretty much the same.
