Hyper thyroid-Class 1 FAA denied, should I appeal?
My FAA class 1 medication application was denied last friday because I am having the problem of hyperactive thyroid. (slightly) If i am correct, there are quite a number of people having this problem and they are still able to obtain the Class 1 FAA cert.
As for the treatment of hyper thyroid, i am on the medication called "Carbimazole". (they said that this druig is not approved) This medication is widely used in Hong Kong but not in the US. (Alternatively, methimazole). If i change my medication from Carbimazole to Methimazole, will they approve me?
Or all i have to do is to get a proof from my doctor saying that this drug have no side effects that would affect me flying a plane?
(I hope that they are not mistaking "Carbimazole" as another anti-seizure medicine with similar name)..
What medication are you guys, with the problem of hyper thyroid, using? Did you get approved for class one?
Or is radioactive treatment is necessary? or they will still deny me after that?
thanks so much.
