company medicals and discrimination laws?
Hi all,
I was wondering about the following thing.
Let's assume somebody passes the authorities' medical class 1. He applies for a pilot job and manages to pass the whole selection process but is not employed for having failed the company medical.
So are company medicals legal at all? Wouldn't that person be discriminated against other class 1 holders?
I'm asking this with the thought in the back of my mind that this person could have applied at an other airline with no company doctor and well have been employed.
regards

same happened to me. i had flown for 1 year as cc with medical class 2when Iwent through a recruitment for a big airline and despite i had class 2 (which is required by the Italian aviation authority to work as cabin crew) they told me that i hadn't passed their medical examination!!! with hindsight i can say that was a luck for me because i found a better job!
