Can we take Zyban??????

Hi there. Trying to give up smoking....again!!! Couple of friends have stopped lately by the use of a drug called Zyban. Not too sure whether the CAA docs would appreciate the use of this stuff....anybody know or even better, used it themselves.

Ok, off for a quick fag whilst I wait for some replies!!

Zyban

The best way is to ring the CAA and find out. Zyban is not approved for a lot of militaries.

Cheers,

BM

Zyban is closely related to the SSRI family of antidepressants.

Doubles the likelihood of managing to pack it in (the fags that is) but some potentially nasty side effects. Most serious one out of that lot is the small chance of a fit (seizure)

Will have a look and see what the FAA say about it and report back.

Nicotine replacements have less side effects (but less effective)

FD

Quick update: Not allowed by the FAA, so suspect the same goes for the CAA

Zyban is chemically the same substance as Wellbutrin, an antidepressant (both bupropion hydrochloride). This fact in itself makes it very unlikely for it to be approved by CAA in flight, but anyway check with the CAA medical dept.
