Eyesight - Poor Field of View
Does anybody out there have or know someone I can speak to about poor field of view in one eye and give me some advice on getting back my Class 1 medical. Field of view in my left eye is only about 1/3 what it used to be after a accident, my right eye is fine.
I have an ATPL and had a Class 1 medical until recently and I know this counts in my favour from the CAA's point of view but I would like to go into bat with them armed to the teeth with as much information as posible. Can Anyone help please?

I would guess it depends on what actually has caused your problem. Consultants at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London are excellent and it would be worth contacting them. Two I know of are Paul Sullivan and Bruce Allen, so worth ringing either of their their Secretaries for an appointment. If you tell them what your situation is they will tell you whether its their field of particular expertise or pass you on to whoever is. Any consultant there is bound to be first rate.

I would also reccommend you speak to a specialist.
Im presuming you mean your peripheral field of vision is detoriorated.
Since your problem is caused by an accident as you put it,
I think you should consult a specialist, I would have suggested vision therapy otherwise.
All the best.

Skylion and Pilot16 thanks for your replies chaps, a colleague of mine at Virgin has recomended Mr Gatry at Moorfields and also a Mr Luke of Harley Street who has a colleague working with him who is very good on field of view issues, all of whom, including the names you have put forward, I hope to see/speak to soon.
