Heart !

Can anyone help with this......

For the past 24hours I seem to be having a "heavy" heart beat, one beat every 30 seconds/minute. Its a beat I can certainly feel unlike all the others almost as if its rising up into the top of my chest or throat, a very definite beat.

Any idea's from such a vague description ????

Hi there.

I think your best bet really would be to go and see your GP. A heavy heart beat feeling could just be a disturbed or abnormal rthym of the heart, but since I and most people on here are not Doctors we can only make suggestions which is why i think you should take a trip to your GP.

All the best

rupetime, your symptoms do not ring any alarm bells with me, and are likely to have an innocent explanation, but, as a340 suggests, visit your quack, who will take into account all the relevant factors, and hopefully provide you with some re-assurance.

Do a Google search under 'Ectopic heartbeats'. If this describes your symptoms it might put your mind at rest, but as others have said, your GP is the best person to do this.

Rupetime,
I have had similar symptoms for some time now - missed beats, fluttering feelings and a notion that my heart is moving around in my chest. The doc seems to think there is nothing radically wrong. However, I'm off to the local hospital tomorrow for a few tests. I'll also have a monitor strapped to me for 24 hours. This will then be downloaded for data readout (a bit like a DFDR).

I'll let you know how it goes, if you so wish.

I've found a significant change in the amount of caffeine consumed and/or big change in exercise rates can make my ol ticker miss a few beats here and there. (yep, feels "heavy")
Nothing wrong, it's still going just fine.

You guys are describing heart palpitations. Feelings of missed beats, heavy beats, faster heart rate, heart feeling like a butterfly in the chest etc....

Can be caused by loads of factors. I sometimes get them at night, normally after a heavy night on the vodka redbulls but sometimes for no reason. Don't seem to get it anymore though. Anyway Im going for my class 1 in a few weeks so if anythings wrong they will find it
