Type 1 medical requirements
Hi guys.. I'm new to all this..
I really must apologise for posting this.. I'm sure the subject has been covered far too many times than most of you care to remember..
I've searched the forums, checked out the sticky, googled it and I still don't understand!
Just what does the type 1 medical involve..?
I'd really appreciate any answers.. thanks

It involves parting with some cash. About £400.
If it's your initial then you'll have to go to Gatwick.
Expect a general check over. Usual stuff, reflexes, height/weight measurements, family history. Expect a check for hernias.
Your urine will be tested, usually looking for evidence of diabetes and blood in the urine. I can't remember if they've stopped doing the haemoglobin check - probably.
Hearing test.
Eyesight test.
Blood pressure and ECG will be done.
EEG (looking for epilepsy and the like)
Chest x-ray.
If you're in reasonable health and no obvious defects/problems then you'll be fine. The medical branch is very helpful and friendly.
For the definitive answer see CAA medical

Just to correct you first of all - it's called a Class 1 medical not a Type 1. Anyway, have a look here :CAA and this should answer all of your questions.
Be prepared to shell out £422 to have an initial medical at Gatwick though!
