Class 1 with +5.75 dioptres - Possible??

This is my dilemma - just a measly .75 dioptres outside the initial class 1 requirements for JAR and indeed for most other aviation authorities around the world.

Surgery is not an option as you are only allow it if your prescription is under +/-5.00 PRIOR to surgery.

My big question: What can I do?

Thank you

Isn't the plus (+) limit +3 and not 5 ? It the minus (-) that goes to -5.

I am just as confused/pi55ed off about it

I’ve just had a call off the CAA about this very problem, I am at 2.00 dioptres at the mo & I thought that was the max but it is, as said, 3.00 dioptres & the CAA can issue a cert with experience? I think this means providing you already fly?

No help to your situation though?

I would recommend a good look through Lasors to give you the correct information as this will effect everything in your flying, or do what I did and e-mail the medical division of the CAA!

Good luck
