I don't think they even realised what Brexit implied, beyond a slogan,

Brexit (for Johnson) implied a route to getting the top job - whatever the consequences for the UK, its people and its economy. For JR-M and others who could afford it Brexit was some kind of ambition to take the UK back to an era that hasn't really existed since before WW2. Some, again including JR-M and Farage already had their exit strategy in place were the public daft enough to believe a compulsive liar - as we have now established that Johnson is.

Some excellent news today. Future growth. Well done UK.
TOKYO, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Members of a trans-Pacific trade pact have agreed that Britain can proceed with its bid to join the group, Japan said on Friday, as it looks for new trading relationships after leaving the European Union.

Unfortunately for the UK it will soon discover that it, like the EU is a 'rules based' organisation similar to the EU and the UK will have to conform to them.

So much for 'taking back control'!!

While, as written, your squeak of unrestrained joy indicates that Japan left the EU, I think I understand your unfounded optimism. The appropriate heading would be "Jam, tomorrow ! (perhaps ?)"

Any country's laws are full of junk that should be cleaned up. I'm sure the same applies to the UK. I'm sure 90% don't have anything to do with Brexit or the EU.
There are tonnes of new UK laws as most of the old EU regulations that applied in the Uk have been copied into UK law with very rudimentary changes such as "cross out 'the Commission' amd replace with 'Secretray of State'"

So, but like the previous process of alignment then? The legal principles involved in standardising UK law to EU law were essentially the same. Anyone got the old UK definition of a banana, the federal EU one and the new post-Brexit version 😉

What I want to know is will I be able to buy whale meat for a stir fry?

Yes, that would be outrageous. Only in the most lowly of peasant homes do we see the secre being served on a tray. In any decent home a footman who failed to used a proper salver (pure silver, not that nasty EPNS) who be summarily flogged.

Oh look, it's a baffling response from CJ! :ok:

just so I don't have to wade through 12,000 plus posts ... is there anyone here who doesn't think it was a fiasco?

The vociferous pro-Brexit troupe have become quiter and quieter over time, but I would not take that for lack of conviction. The trumpeteers are out-of-breath from the victory salute, and there is now a lull in fighting whist a full tally of the dead and injured is made.

They won but are having trouble getting over it. It seems that which was in the poke was indeed a pig after all.

I really am most terribly sorry - when you baldly quoted those SIs, I assumed that it was because you knew what you were writing about, and, therefore, the implications. If you are just spouting from ignorance, it helps if you say so !
If you say pretty please, I'll give you a clue ;)

SWBKCB 21st Feb 2022 23:54

The request was for specific examples. Are you saying these aren't?

Effluent Man 22nd Feb 2022 06:51

Well they meant nothing to me. So maybe for the benefit of those of us who don't know the significance of those two numbers maybe put them into plain English. I'm keen to know the benefits. Oddly Brexiteeers seem happy to hide their lights under bushels.
