Full of hot air the Blond Zeppelin...

Usually we genuinely value comment and even criticism from abroad. But do you actually have any point to make, alicopter beyond general abuse?

Meanwhile the Corbyn plan takes shape...if it can even be called a plan. Put Corbyn into Downing Street -er, and thatís it. Really, thatís it: remain, leave, renegotiated deal...nobody knows what Labour want. Just the keys to No 10.

Yeah ! right ! like with you all the way here man !.........using the incomparable Led Zep when referring to Boris....... that's just pure blasphemy baby ! ( one is still awaiting ones ticket for that gig they did a few years ago...one can only assume it is stuck at Mount Pleasant sorting office or on a wagon on their former underground network )

Other than that, I have yet to read anything from alicopter that could be considered abusive......insightful as to the UK however, quite perceptive I would say.....wouldn't you ?

Back to current times and this item appeared last night........it's 21 mins long and contains a cross section of views and perspectives.......it also highlights the fact there's an increasing possibility of the extremists ( of all allegiances ) using the effects of Brexit to ferment their own destructive agendas.

Thankfully, Sammy and Arlene appear to have been otherwise engaged........

Maybe that’s because I was one of those Paratroopers whose ass got shot at twice a week by murdering filth. You and your liberal left wing tosh have absolutely no idea about what happened in the early seventies and reading the analytical shite you are spouting just about sums up precisely why we are were we are.

I was on the boat to South Armagh on my 18th birthday because of those murdering barstewards.

And if Brexit causes the GFA to break down, there will be other new recruits sent over there to be shot at and bombed all over again.

Is that what you want?

An interesting point but I think it is worth considering that the Good Friday agreement is in serious danger of falling apart just now.

MOSTAFA 15th Aug 2019 18:14

It’s got sweet FA to do with Brexit except some knob a few posts back decides the IRA are waiting to have a pop at the police if we demand to control our own borders and if that means we don’t control our own borders then I for one will be very happy to defend it - AGAIN.

US President may negotiate trade deals but US Congress must approve them. It has zero chance of going through if there is ANY damage done to GFA. UK media are really forgetting that it was the US would put its backing behind GFA that made it happen.

Irish Caucus in Congress is cross party so what Pelosi was saying was fairly clear and it will have enough support.

Sally are you saying that if the EU want a hard border then the British Forces will be under threat from people in the EU.

U.K. Tory Suggests Johnson Could Execute Surprise August Brexit

By
Robert Hutton A senior U.K. Conservative suggested Boris Johnson could take Britain out of the European Union in the next 10 days -- without a deal -- as a surprise maneuver to outflank his opponents in parliament.

This is in today's Bloomberg. I have no idea as to the veracity of this publication, but Twittersphere has now caught on to this story.

Well said. It annoys me that people seem to look back at those times with rose tinted glasses and forget the true cost, I was relatively sheltered at Aldergrove, but the local pond I frequent has a bench dedicated to one that paid the ultimate price during the troubles, I make a point of using it as it's in such a beautiful peaceful location..

ShotOne 15th Aug 2019 21:09

As mostafa says, Brexit has SFA to do with the GFA. Not that that stops low-life scum trying to murder police officers as they did recently.

Itís the grey windbag, not the blonde one in the news today. The leader of a party, a leader of unprecedented unpopularity, nodding between third and fourth place in the polls is demanding to be made prime minister. Iíd be genuinely interested in a continental take on this rather than pointless insults about trains etc.

Phantom Driver 15th Aug 2019 21:21

Sir Humphrey sums it up pretty well as usual.....

Sallyann1234 15th Aug 2019 21:51

Just because you don't want to think Brexit has implications for the GFA, doesn't make it so. There are men of violence on both sides who are itching for an excuse to restart the old battle.

The people on both sides of the border interviewed by C4 seem to think the GFA is under threat. The Taoiseach thinks it is. Many influential people in the US think it is. I'd rather believe them than your wishful thinking.

Effluent Man 15th Aug 2019 21:51

I think that last reply by Mostafa pretty much sums the situation up. An aggressive post in reply to a relatively innocuous statement. Now translate that into a young, clearly not over educated (as evidenced by his inability to see the Brexit connection to potential trouble ahead) put an assault rifle in his hand and point him in the direction of "murderous scum".

Does anybody else see the potential for trouble where this s going? Seven hundred dead British soldiers in addition to hundreds more PNSI dead plus prison officers. This isn't going to end well is it?

Effluent Man 15th Aug 2019 22:02

And furthermore...Mostafa is 63. His eighteenth birthday therefore was by my calculation some time in late '73 - '74. A point where The Troubles were at their height. As we did not have conscription I can only therefore deduce that he joined up in the full knowledge, and possibly hope? That he would go to fight against the Provos and INLA. I find it a little ironic that at this late stage he is complaining about being shot at after willingly placing himself at the centre of a shooting war. I was training as a teacher at that time, I wonder why he chose to shoot people whilst I chose to educate them?
