Your post is boasting in its purest form.

Oh, the irony.

My proudest 'bag' is the DH Dragon Rapide.
When I was very young, we went to Blackpool, and my father and my two siblings went for a flight in a DH89.
My mother refused to go and refused to let her 'baby' go either.
Forward 65 years and I was at Duxford with my son - and they were giving rides in the 'aircraft that I never flew in'.
I bought two tickets without consulting my son - considering that he is a frequent flyer - however he was terrified throughout the trip - I have never asked why - maybe because it wasn't a proper airline? - or maybe because he was in next compartment to the bomb in the Kings Cross Underground at Russell Square on 7th July 2005 . . . (which left him physically unharmed but psychologically wounded)

However I achieved my ambition - after 65 years - of flying in 'the aircraft in which I had never flown'.

rogerg 12th Aug 2018 17:39

Is this a willy waving completion ?

VP959 12th Aug 2018 17:45

Probably an idea to clarify this a bit. I could list types from my logbooks when working, have another list of types from my gliding and private flying, another (very short) list from ATC air experience flights, and yet another list (which would be hopelessly inaccurate) from types where I've been a passenger as SLF (I've undoubtedly forgotten, or never noted, those).

So, do we just list types from work?

or do we include types from private flying or stuff like ATC air experience flying?

I'm not sure there's much point in trying to note types where one was SLF. How many people actually take much notice of what they happen to be riding in to get from one place to another?

India Four Two 12th Aug 2018 17:49

Stick time on 44 types, P1 on 20 and innumerable passenger flights.

Some of the most exotic or memorable:
Dragon Rapide
Dominie - both kinds.
Queen's Flight Heron
Chipmunk
Tiger Moth
Bristol Britannia
Boeing 720
Boeing 747SP
Grumman Mallard (that's for you WingNut60)
Yak 40
Yak 42
Yak 52
Spitfire IXT
Vampire T.11
Beaver (turbo and round engine)
Twin Otter
Mil Mi-8
Aerospatiale Lama
Pilatus Porter
Augusta Bell 47G
Whirlwind 10
Varsity
Hercules
Standard Cirrus
Cirrus SR22

I've flown in almost all modern(ish) jets. Three I regret never having flown in are Concorde, VC-10 and BAC-111.
I realized a while ago, that of all the manufacturers, I have flown in DH products more than any other.

I could add Goose, Islander and Il-18.

But why bother ?

Thread probably ought to be in Spectators Balcony.

Dan_Brown 12th Aug 2018 18:23

The late Eric (winkle) Brown I believe holds the world record of 160+ types, IIRC.

I Can't see anyone coming even close to that, this day and age.

Surely nobody keeps records of all the different types they've flown in as pax?

paulc 12th Aug 2018 18:53

I do and so do a lot of enthusiasts - a number of UK airlines used to have a passenger log book for kids - British Caledonian had a Junior Jet club and i am sure BOAC / BEA had similar. It was another way of getting youngsters interested.
