I have no doubt it will, but do you think the use of a gun will be required?

A gun? No. Many of them.

I have a feeling that your next election wont require the use of firearms in any way, shape or form :ok:

The next election won't, of course not. However, depending on who gets elected, the aftermath might indeed require a bit of, shall we say, upheaval.

Political power from the barrel of a gun? You'll be showing us your little red book next :E

PTT:

Little red book? I would think not. Worked for Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, et al. And they certainly didn't run around with little red books.

So what happened to "give them an inch.....etc."?

From what I can gather from other Prune threads Obama has, in the view of many, taken a **** site more than an inch yet unsurprisingly there are no armed hordes heading for the White House to oust such a Tyrant...........

Who'd a thunk that :ok:

Lord Spandex Masher 18th Nov 2014 17:39

I reckon they've all gone soft.

Not exactly honouring the democratic principles they fought for though, is it?

rgbrock1 18th Nov 2014 17:57

Democratic principles? This country was not at all founded on Democratic principles but on Republican principles. Which is why the United States is a Republic. Not a Democracy. (Or was anyway.) A mistake too many people make.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson.

PTT 18th Nov 2014 17:59

Oh, I'm sorry, republican principles. Those principles being the ones which mean that the public votes for their representatives, not shoots the ones that get voted in but they don't like. That's what people like John Wilkes Booth did.

I doubt even Jefferson would refer to Obama as a tyrant despite differing politics.

rgbrock1 18th Nov 2014 18:05

I never wrote anything about shooting the person who got voted in. You did, not me.

If you take a look at this

Prohibition in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

then maybe that's always been the case, 13 year ban on alcohol, not sure it gets more tyrannical than that but not much reference to a well armed militia ousting the 'Tyranny' ...........

Pray, then, how should we interpret this statement of yours:
depending on who gets elected, the aftermath might indeed require a bit of, shall we say, upheaval.
It looks rather like a total lack of respect for that process which Jefferson et al fought for. Dislike the elected, but respect the wishes of the electorate which elevated them in the same way you would expect them to if your preferred candidate were elected.

brickhistory 18th Nov 2014 18:16

Oh good, Mr. Smiley and his ankle biters, has given his analysis about the American characteristics of firearms philosophy.

Truly, no one cares.

We do tend to care about tyranny, so much so that each succeeding generation does not repeal the Second Amendment. The concept of physical possesion of a firearm is not the crux of the issue, it is the inherent right, simply for existing, to do so that is.

The ankle-biters will be long deceased knowing that, like much of their existence in second-class nations unable to do more than suck on crooked, stained teeth, to do or say anything to influence the big dogs.

Like that great British leader and statesman (great because he was 1/2 American), said (paraphrased), I am quite drunk. But you are quite impotent. And tomorrow I will indisputably be quite sober.

How did that work with Prohibition................reads like you all bent over and simply took it in the rusty sheriffs badge :p

con-pilot 18th Nov 2014 18:24

How did that work with Prohibition.................
Why don't you tell us, after all, you claim to know more about the United States and our Constitution that we do.

Key work being claim.

Seldomfitforpurpose 18th Nov 2014 18:26

What did I miss Con :p:p:p

Lord Spandex Masher 18th Nov 2014 18:26

We do tend to care about tyranny,
Haven't done a lot to oppose it though. Empty words.
