Meanwhile, in that universe far, far away that is the NT, boss PUPpy Alison Anderson has convinced her federal colleagues to call for a Senate enquiry into corruption in NT politics.

Her justification is that the CLP "trashed democracy by using its numbers" to overturn an earlier motion from our independent member to hold an enquiry into political donations over the past 20 years.

SUPPORTERS of the Greens sometimes wonder why their party has failed to evolve much beyond a noisy pressure group in Australia.

The answer is simple. Too many Greens have wacky ideas completely out of touch with mainstream society.

And their latest is a genuine cracker: Christmas requires renaming because it’s apparently offensive.

Greens councillor Matthew Robertson, of Sydney’s Woollahra municipality, claims much support from the community in his push to have “Christ” removed from Christmas.

He argues that the term “Christmas party” unfairly excludes members of other religions.

What utter nonsense.

If there’s any celebration around the world that embraces all-comers, it’s Christmas.

Children love it because they receive presents from Santa. Adults enjoy a break from work, a big lunch and the chance to let off some steam at a variety of employer-subsidised celebrations. What’s not to like?

Yet to Councillor Robertson, the fact not all Woollahra residents believe in Jesus is a form of prejudice requiring municipal rectification. Yes, neither Muslims nor Jews accept Christ as the son of God. Yet no members of either faith with whom I’ve spoken want to deny Christians the chance to celebrate Jesus’s birth.

As to the majority of people for whom Christmas is no longer really a religious festival, but just a chance to have a good time, why meddle with tradition?

Inventing fictitious reasons for minority groups to take offence seems to have become an unfortunate pastime in Australia.

Too many kindergartens with just one non-Christian child enrolled already say “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry you-know-what.

Shopping centres focus on just Santa in December and bunnies bearing eggs in March/April each year so as to avoid these holidays’ religious origins.

It’s time to draw a line in the sand. If the non-Greens members of Woollahra’s council have any sense, they’ll commit ratepayer funds to a decorated fir tree in a public place accompanied by some sort of Nativity scene.

And the whole shebang should be labelled “Christmas” in big letters just to remove any lingering doubts.

They don't need to educate themselves by visiting a mosque, all the information they need comes from Bolt, Pickering, and all tha other media experts.
Meanwhile the AMA have labeled Blabbott and Dutton's response to the Ebola crisis as chaotic.

So, Ethel, can we all assume you're one for the sixteen volunteers just busting your gut (given what Ebola does to the internal organs of the body without major and very specialised medical intervention, no pun intended) to hasten to West Africa before the agency that will be sending you, the Australian government, has put in place some method to get you to said specialised treatment quickly enough to give you some chance of survival?

Given your history of not answering any direct question, I'm not holding my breath waiting for a straight answer.

I will say that I can imagine the wailing and outcries about Abbott government ineptitude and its lack of care from the likes of Tanya Plibersek and all the usual suspects if any one of the Australian volunteers was to contract the disease and not be in high end care withing direct flight tome plus fifteen minutes of first recognition of symptoms.

I am only looking after you righties, it's better too help and try too contain the situation in Africa, if it arrives in Oz it appears we will be totally unprepared and you lot will have to hide in your stocked up bomb shelters for months.
The UK and USA have asked for proper support, even Cuba have sent in over 40 trained medics. It will happen, sadly the delay is another sure sign how pathetic our current governmint is.

Hang on, why don't we just tattoo a serial number on their arms ( just so we can keep track of them) and we can also maybe make them wear a...I know, a crescent sewn on their clothes, just so we know who we're dealing with. Hmmm I seem to remember something like this was tried in a Western European country once before. It will come back to me in a minute how that went.

Honestly, it beggars belief some of the shit that is peddled as opinion on here.

Now that the UK and US has asked for proper support, it will give the government leverage in being able to have an evacuation plan in place using their countries, with our citizens in case of infection. That is what its all about, so you don't get a repeat of the cruise ship debacle with countries refusing it to dock.

As for Cuba, being a third world country they will either just let their citizens die over there, or ask for help from the the evil empire for evacuation, which they would get on compassionate grounds.
