Andu ... ref Swappers, what was the address ? Smiley etc.

bosnich71 9th May 2014 03:25

7 X 7 .... ' police have urged anyone who spotted suspicious behaviour to call 000'.
It might be asked, what is the point when the magistrate cites,"cultural differences".

Billionaire James Packer and Channel Nine boss David Gyngell have been charged with offensive conduct following their now-infamous punch-up on a Bondi Beach street.

The pair were captured by a photographer sparring outside Packer's beachside mansion last Sunday morning following escalating tensions between the long-time friends.

Police launched an investigation two days later following concerns raised directly with police and in the media, acting assistant commissioner Mark Walton said on Wednesday.

Around 300 images and footage taken by paparazzo Brendan Beirne were handed over to police and witnesses provided statements.

Neither Packer nor Gyngell made a formal complaint.

Nine Entertainment boss David Gyngell admitted this week that he was the instigator and had waited outside Packer's house for the billionaire to arrive home from Sydney Airport.

The fight was sparked by a text message over a Channel Nine van outside Packer's house.

Police said on Friday they had issued a 46-year-old man and a 48-year-old man with a Criminal Infringement Notice for offensive behaviour.

The penalty carries a maximum of three months in prison. In February, the fine for the offence, if it goes uncontested by the recipient, was raised from $200 to $500.

Well, what's the betting that neither pugilist shows up in court, that each plead guilty and but then ask the beak for a discharge without conviction because of previous 'good behaviour'?

500N 9th May 2014 03:38

Totally agree.

Aww Ken, now you've made all of Sydney's Queen's/Senior Counsels cry. :E:E:}

Ken Borough 9th May 2014 04:08

ABC Radio News now reporting that neither pugilist will have to front Court unless either of them disagrees with the penelty stated in the Notice. As the maximum $ penalty would be small change to both, I suspect they will pay up and get on with their unreal existence.

Andu 9th May 2014 04:15

Did I hear right? One of that pair paid $1100 for the trackie daks he was wearing in the punch up? The world's gone mad.

Ken Borough 9th May 2014 04:29

Andu

Some of our fellow Australians live an unreal existence. The nouveau riche wouldnt have a clue as the value of money as they've never had to 'fight" (sorry, a poor choice of words) for a day's living in their lives. Every time I go out I'm gob-smacked at the number of relatively young people sitting round in designer clobber quaffing coffee while admiring themselves and their very expensive, but often tasteless, motor transport. For some,yes, the world has gone mad. And I;m buggered if I know how anyone can changes things. :{

Think Abbott is going to by driving us all into penury.

Solid Rust Twotter 9th May 2014 05:38

...he would have reasonable doubt finding Jaffari guilty, citing cultural differences...

FFS! It's Oz, not Afghanistan. FIFO principle applies. The law specifically addresses his behaviour and culture has nothing to do with it. The magistrate is muddying the issue and ignoring his responsibilities under the law.

Solid rust etc. the magistrate is still sitting though,( sitting, is that the correct word?).
The daft thing about this is that at a recent swimming carnival involving my 2 Grandsons, amongst others, parents were advised not to take photographs .. just in case they got into the hands of paedophiles presumably.
Should have got one of our local Afghanis to take a few for me.

bosnich71 9th May 2014 05:54

Good to see that the Sydney Plods are on the ball and are taking the two gangsters to court.
Meanwhile I look forward to next Monday's channel 9 news report into yet more shootings etc. in Sydney's western subs. .... and another sombre faced copper declaring the usual pile of Toromanure.
P.s. Ken be careful with the use of the word "Buggered", it does have certain connotations. Smiley added again.

Boz,

Two things: one, that's a term I use in polite company and two, I think I'm pretty 'safe' around these parts! I'm nowhere near Oxford Street, or Fitzroy for that matter! Should I have used a word beginnith "F"? :ok:

bosnich71 9th May 2014 07:26

Ken ... I was once in Oxford Street and I was amused by a bloke wearing a T shirt which bore the slogan, " NO I'M NOT F*****G GAY".
Must be a tad difficult living around that area if you aren't batting for the other team. Smiley added,(must find out how to add these things some day).
Ps. Well bugger me I didn't know about that about Fitzroy !

SOPS 10th May 2014 13:36

Question. When they close the detention centres next month, what will happen to the people currently there?

500N 10th May 2014 13:40

Which one's are you talking about ?

I thought the one's closing had already had the people moved ?
