As per the rules of "ALP Twist History" it doesn't have to make sense to you. Nor does it require any explanation! Now I know why you guys play this game. It's fun isn't it?

Andu 24th Jul 2013 11:44

Fleigs, your last two posts are the kinds of posts that got earlier Dunnunda political threads binned by the moderators.

That wouldn't be your plan, would it?

Pinky the pilot 24th Jul 2013 11:55

It's been a long day here in Takikawa, towing gliders. The heat and humidity have really got to me today, and to top it off, after flying when back in the Cu Lodge whilst cooking my dinner I accidentally kicked a crate of empty Sapporo Draft bottles left over from the Sunday night party after the yearly airshow. I think I may have broken the little toe on my left foot as it is sticking out at a funny angle and is somewhat painful.::mad:

Therefore, could someone please explain to me, in simple language if you please, just what the exchange between Buster and Fliegs was all about?:confused:

The Mods have been extremely tolerant and the contributors have been reasonably polite, even to those with diametrically opposing views, and I sincerely hope it stays that way. The discussion as you would expect has been robust but tempered, except for a few antagonists who have either been banned or given up and gone to play in another sandpit. One would hope that the Mods continue to remain tolerant and punish only with those who go that little bit too far.

RJM 24th Jul 2013 12:47

Thank heavens it's ok to sledge 3rd parties, like the unfortunate Rudd.

500N 24th Jul 2013 12:58

What is wrong with Fliegs posts ?

For a start, they are MILD and I would say considered. Far more considered
than some of my posts directed at KAG and a couple of others.

He disagrees with someone and says so. OK, he's having a go at the man but in not that strong words and with reasons given.

In any case, what happened to the art of the person the posts are
aimed at debating the issue by posting a robust reply ?

I'm sure Fliegs can handle it :O

Buster Hyman 24th Jul 2013 13:38

It's interesting how far the dummy can be spat when the shoe's on the other foot.

Does anyone recall the question; "What has Rudd done to deserve your support?"

500N 24th Jul 2013 13:44

Buster

No, I don't, but it was probably a very short thread :O

Charlie Foxtrot India 24th Jul 2013 17:20

Fleigenmong is having some time in the sin bin. Not for his opinions which were valid and interesting but for making personal attacks. I won't be able to keep this thread open if people are going to resort to that sort of thing

CoodaShooda 24th Jul 2013 19:58

500N

The question was originally posed as "What has labor done to warrant your support?"

Must be about 5 years since it was first asked.

We're hoping to get an answer some day soon. :E

ABC is reporting that their contacts in Java are telling them that more boats are loading and preparing to leave shortly.

Does not seem that sinkings or threats of PNG are going to stop the flow.

It's your call of course CFI, but I disagree.

In that old, long gone thread, when Cooda (thanks) posted the original question, this was the exact tactic that was employed at the time. Nobody would answer the question. It vexed a number of people on the 'right' side of the argument & was downright childish. Out of curiosity, I decided to try that tactic & see what happened.

To be honest, I didn't expect Fleigs to fire up as he did and was actually expecting to draw fire from other areas. For what it's worth, I have no problem apologising to Fliegenmong for luring him into an argument that was 'manufactured', and I hope that you consider this when releasing Fleigs from his ban soon CFI.

MTOW 24th Jul 2013 22:31

And rudd (sic) - can you believe how thick is the man's hide? - is on the ALPBC saying that "thousands will drown" if the PNG "solution" is not adopted.

The man really is a fully fledged psychopath. There's no other description that fits. His comments now are akin to a child who has taken an axe to both parents and murdering them then pleading for mercy because he's a orphan - but the MSM seem to buy whatever he says without so much as a demur.

I've lived in PNG. What Rudd is suggesting is a recipe for social chaos. But I don't believe he thinks for one moment that one asylum seeker will ever be settled there. It's all about coming up with something he thinks might bet him over the line in the upcoming election, and then, to paraphrase Peter Garrett, he can do whatever he likes.

MTOW 24th Jul 2013 22:32

I concur with Buster, CFI. Please don't ban Fleigs, even for one day.

500N 24th Jul 2013 22:35

Agree.

Nothing in his post warranted banning IMHO.

Ovation 24th Jul 2013 23:23

I agree too. I'm sure Fliegs will have sobered up by now:cool:.

Flying Binghi 24th Jul 2013 23:52

Hmmm...

One union, at least, isnít keen on voting for Labor:

ONE of the nationís biggest unions has snubbed Kevin Rudd by withholding $250,000 in political donations to the Labor Party...
Sources said the union had instead decided to spend $500,000 in the lead-up to the federal election on two campaigns, costing $250,000 each, designed to highlight issues relevant to its members in the road transport and aviation sectors.

Sorry guys. There is room for all sorts of politics and opinions but personal attacks are not allowed here, he went too far and I'll do the same to anyone who behaves the same way. The alternative is for another mod to close the thread, the reported posts go to all of them.

Try and work with me here guys.

500N 25th Jul 2013 00:00

Charlie

OK.

Buster Hyman 25th Jul 2013 00:06

Charlie.

We are playing under tight rules & I accept your reasoning, and that the Umpires decision is final. I've had my say and I just ask you to consider that in the length of the ban.

That's it from me on the matter...now...

Did anyone see Lisa Wilkinson "go hard" at Rudd this morning? I was quite surprised actually, but she really isn't a hard nosed Journo. Rudd just steamrolled over every interruption she tried to make...funny stuff actually.
