Well, we will all know the answer in 5 minutes.
|
I'm now wondering what might happen if he does challenge, wins and brings back Crean, Ferguson, Carr, Bowen, Jenkins and the other adults.
Getting rid of the Gillard Gang - Swan, Conroy etc would be a vote winner. |
Not that much of a vote winner.
|
Not enough to win the election but......
Gillard goes down in history as the worst PM to date Rudd goes into the history book as the PM stabbed in the back and then came returns to try to save the day; but fails valiantly and saves a few seats and keeps senate balance. He then retires after the election and hands over to Shorten. |
Yep...it's on. One of them will be gone at 7 o'clock tonight.
|
OK. He's running because Australians want him to save the furniture and block Work Choices. :yuk:
Sounds credible though. Game on. |
Oh dear.
He's standing on his record as a proven financial manager. |

Good summary ! |
A good economic manager. Oh dear (claps hand to forehead).
Betting agencies have KRudd as short-priced favourite. |
I'll make a call and say Rudd will win it.
And then it is game on, he will go for Abbott like a cornered tiger ! |
Abbot's biggest problem will be that people will at least listen when Rudd speaks. Gillard is ignored.
|
See how the lies just roll off the tongue. "Good economic manager" Newspeak at its finest.

Yes, agree. Rudd, if he wins, is in a win win situation. He can blame a loss on Julia and take credit for a win ! I wonder if he will call an earlier date for the election if he wins ? I hope so. |
One of them will be gone at 7 o'clock tonight. Should Krudd win (and I hope to God he does not!) I wonder if Julya will unleash her Emily's List attack dogs on Kevvy and accuse him of misogyny, or is that reserved for opposition politicians. |
Well he was wearing a blue tie earlier today, Cap'n.

I'm now wondering what might happen if he does challenge, wins and brings back Crean, Ferguson, Carr, Bowen, Jenkins and the other adults. I wonder if they deliberately waited until Origin II...:suspect: I know it only affects two states, but any port in a PR storm. I don't believe that for a minute. They are both squarely focused on power. Not the good of the country, but power. 5.32pm More in from Crikey’s Andrew Crook, who is in Canberra this week, and doing the numbers on the leadership vote: “It is interesting to look at an actual list of caucus members here. Two weeks ago Crikey had the numbers at 56 Gillard, 46 Rudd. This requires 6 MPs to change sides for a Rudd win. The biggest disaster for the Rudd camp is if Gillard wins by 1 or 2 votes. It would confirm Kevin, even with NSW General Secretary Sam Dastyari’s help, still can’t count.” ALP leadership spill: Julia Gillard vs Kevin Rudd in Labor Party | Crikey“Whatever happens, this will play well for Bill Shorten. Both Rudd and Gillard will probably lose at the election, whenever it’s held. Shorten keeps his powder dry and sails into the leadership after the poll.” EDIT: so Jules thinks that the loser should retire from politics. Good luck with that :E. My money's on Gillard but it's not a lot of money, and I've been wrong before. :} |
I just can't see Rudd agreeing to leave politics if he loses, so he would either have to renege or refuse to contest. Still think Gillard should be made to drag it all down with her but Rudd just can't resist basking in all this media attention and will no doubt tell everyone he is back by popular demand!
Gillard by one vote? |
What about if Gillard chucks a third person into the vote, to dilute the votes, so to speak? And that would let her get the majority. Just thinking.
|
Standby, Shorten is about to hold a press conference
|
IMO Rudd will stand as an Independent rather than retire from politics. With him it's always been about the Rudd rather than the party. The country comes a distant second and the party third.
Interesting what Bill Shorten has to say; either way I don't think the unions will get pally with Rudd any time soon. Like the Caucus, they know what he's like. That said, they'd certainly rather see the ALP win under Rudd than the Coalition score a wipeout, which is the way it's heading. The question is whether Rudd can turn that around enough to win, and I don't think he can. If they think he can, they'll back him and their MPs will trot along accordingly. Much as I detest Gillard, IMO Rudd's a nutjob. |
