Well Drapes - some of us have standards. I happen to think that when one visits a crematorium or similar establishment that knowing, (not necessarily seeing) that the slots in the screws holding the speakers to the tiles on the ceiling are correctly aligned, is important to one's visit and ultimately, one's satisfaction with the "sojourn complet" shall we say.

I always like to align my screw slots at 45ļ to magnetic north, but that's just a personal whim of course.

"My grandad was burned the other day".

"Was it serious?"

"Well, they don't muck about at the crematorium".

I think I upset a mod the other day.

I resurrected an old thread in 'Questions' - one I started couple of years ago, quite popular it was, not controversial, and over 60 replies.

Mod removed my latest post and locked the thread.

timmcat,

'moderator' is a relative term, to some it is.. to some it isn't but, there ya go.

An auditor is an accountant who can't bear the excitement.

Cough ?

To "testify" was based on men in the Roman court swearing to a statement made by swearing on their testicles.

Well, itís a long, long time
From May to December
But the days grow short,
When you reach September.
And the autumn weather
Turns the leaves to gray
And I havenít got time
For the waiting game.

Ah they don't write em like that now.

Is it just me or is argument and antagonism only possible when a woman starts it?
Well, encourages it, at least.

Are the menfolk of this forum simply that phlegmatic and laissez-faire?
Can't believe it crosses the mental divide but .. when's SG back, again?
When a man is talking and alone in the forest, and there's no woman around to hear, is he still wrong?

Well, I thought Kwasi_Mensa's last dig at me was unnecessary, but I just blamed myself for upsetting the dear fellow a while back. Some nonsense about plumbing. I would never mention it again.

Risky:

"When a man is talking and alone in the forest, and there's no woman around to hear, is he still wrong?"

That deserves to be in the books of quotations.

What's a 'Broussard', Gainesy, and are those logo thingies under the wing induced thingies or incipient whatsits?

Mr.Davaar, Oh Captain! My Captain! Chevalier du Poeme, please accept my humble excuses if my post made the impression I had a dig at you. This would be the last thing on earth I wanted to do. Every time I read your eloquent written pieces, which reminds me of paintings of Old Dutch Masters, all I can do is sit and read in awe.

Votre humble servante,

Kwasi

One was just thinking, if one had discovered Ebay when one was wealthy, one's house would be full to the rafters with junk now,
one loves junk, one is a junkophile.

Ode to junk

Old motors and circuit boards,
cogwheels and sprockets,
switches and buttons
old tellys and sockets,
cameras and monitors
computers and tools,
these are the things
over which draper drools.
