Tax relief on captured Russian Military Hardware

I was just browsing the BBC news pages to see what is going on in the Ukraine when a little snippet of info/advice caught my eye.

The page in question is here and the interesting advice can be found way down at the end, in the final two paragraphs.

"The Ukrainian government has even issued instructions on how citizens should turn in abandoned military vehicles.Authorities also confirmed that anyone who found such "combat trophies" did not need to declare them for tax purposes."

Who would have thought there would be tax advantages in pinching Russian military hardware?

It does remind me of travelling by train through Czechoslovakia a few years ago, many, many of the homes backing onto the railway network had military vehicles in their back yards. Perhaps tax relief on this stuff has been available before............

The Russian army were said to have 2,600 tanks in their arsenal. The Ukrainian army claims to have destroyed or captured 640. That's a quarter of the total gone and the war is at best, only half way through. The Ukrainian army has been replenished with a further 4,000 man-portable anti-tank weapons, so they have enough to take out all of the remaining 1,960 tanks. Who'd want to be a Russian tank driver in today's army?

"Here, take the tank, can I have 10% of the take?"
